Via an encrypted satellite phone, Richards, per the book, double-checked with Dr. Borov that the temporal insertion data of September 23rd, 1359 BC at 2:12 a.m. had been the correct one entered into the Little Beast. Confirming that all was right with the world, the Egyptologist, once again soon-to-be temporal field agent, then reiterated the obvious.

“Yes, Peter, I will be careful. And yes, I promise that I will not touch any suspect well water either! By the way, is John there?”

After a brief pause, John Milson’s soft and fatherly voice answered, “Yes, Joseph, I’m here. What’s on your mind?”

“Well, I just wanted to confirm with you the names of the four individuals that we discussed in Chicago.”

“Shoot.”

“First, the High Priest of the Aten was a man with the unlikely name of Meryre, ‘beloved of Re,’ who carried the title of ‘Greatest of Seers of the Aten in the House of Re.’”

“Correct.”

“Second, a foreigner, perhaps of Syrian origin, named Tutu. He was the First Prophet of the Divine King and supposed ‘Mouth of the Whole Land.’ Hermann Kees thought ill of him, if I recall. He said that the man ‘exercised apparently a pernicious influence over the king,’ meaning Akhenaten. Given what we know, I still find that odd. Perhaps the opposite was more the case.”

“Not at all, Joseph. While we know that Akhenaten really was a powerful line of sight telepathic and telekinetic alien, Tutu surely wasn’t. If I had to guess, Akhenaten probably played his every action like a puppeteer and used him as his surrogate mouthpiece, hence his claim of being the ‘Mouth of the Whole Land.’ Why now all the concern?”

“I really don’t know. It’s just a hunch really, but I think that if I run into him, he could be real trouble.”

“Agreed,” answered Milson. “Avoid him like the plague, no pun intended.”

“None taken John.

“Third, as for Smenkhkare, we agreed that Horemheb will have him removed from the picture. Given that he’s a first generation line of sight telekinetic telepath, are we committed to the hunting trip?”

“I would expect so. Just make sure that it looks like a fine, visceral hunting accident with lots of excitement. That should cover any anxieties that Horemheb or his men may be suffering from.”

“Consider it done.

“And now, the big enchilada, Paneshy, the First Servant of the Aten in the Domain of the Aten in Akhetaten. This guy I just have to meet. With a title like that, he could well be caring for the Aten himself.”

“Again, I have to agree, but as ever, be very, very careful.”
